Witness & Value

There’s something I’ve come to appreciate in the work.

Not something I created.

Something I get to witness.

In conversations with men over time, a pattern shows up.

Not loudly.

Not all at once.

Just in moments.

A pause where there used to be reaction.

A sentence spoken a little more honestly than before.

An acknowledgment that doesn’t try to improve anything. It just sees.

When a man sees what’s real without turning away.

When he stays with discomfort instead of moving past it.

When he lets something remain incomplete without forcing resolution.

When he includes himself, even if only a little more than before.

No announcement.

No performance.

Just seeing.

Sometimes it sounds like:

“I see myself.”

And nothing else needs to follow.

I’ve watched men catch themselves in real time.

Stay with something they would have bypassed before.

Not fix it. Not explain it. Just remain with it.

Not because they were told to.

Because they noticed.

Over time, some of those partnerships end.

A few of those men become friends.

It’s a quiet respect for what I get to witness.

A man realizing he can face himself and stay.

I value that.
