When you find your opportunity, it won’t ask how long you waited, only whether you’re ready

When you find your opportunity, it won't ask how long you waited, only whether you’re ready.
There’s something powerful about football players who don’t get drafted.
Jahdae Walker didn’t hear his name called on draft day.
No stage. No spotlight. No guarantees.
Just a phone call from the Bears.
A chance.
And his decision to keep going.
He signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent, which in means living on the edge.
Practice squads, constant evaluation, and the quiet pressure of knowing that that day’s practice might be his last.
And still, he stayed ready.
He did the work.
He learned the system.
He believed, without entitlement.
Then came Week 16, December 20, 2025.
Trailing late at Soldier Field, with time winding down against their oldest rivals, the Green Bay Packers.
Walker made a touchdown catch to tie the game with under 30 seconds left in regulation, his first NFL touchdown and one that forced overtime.
The Bears went on to win 22–16 in overtime.
This weekend, his story continued.
Against the San Francisco 49ers, Walker was again part of the moment as a trusted option.
He came up with a key 19-yard reception and was the intended target on the final play of the game as time expired.
The pass fell incomplete. The Bears lost.
But the moment mattered.
Because when everything was on the line, Quarterback Caleb Williams looked to him.
Not because of hype.
Not because of draft status.
But because he had earned trust.
Not because he was promised anything, but because he was prepared for the moment.
That’s the part that stays with me.
So many people are doing the unseen work:
• Building skills quietly
• Waiting through uncertainty
• Doubting themselves at times
• Wondering if their moment will ever come
And yet, when the opportunity is found, it won't ask how long you waited, only whether you’re ready.
It’s important to stay in the game.
There’s strength in patience.
There’s power in preparation without applause.
Walker’s story isn’t about luck.
It’s about readiness and finding opportunity.
A reminder for all of us:
Don’t leave the field early. Stay true to your vision. Seek your opportunity and be ready.
No te saques de la cancha. Firme con tu visión. Busca tu oportunidad y ponte al pie del cañon.
