The LinkedIn Journey of a Bicultural Coach

I began posting on LinkedIn in 2020.
A new certified coach, aspiring to build a coaching muscle and add value through partnerships.
I didn’t know where it would lead, only that I wanted to enjoy flow (being) & real conversations.
Over time, I began to see what I had to offer more clearly: being bicultural with deep roots in México querido and decades of corporate experience in the U.S.
Someone who had lived between worlds and could help others do the same.
By the 2nd year, I began to focus on coaching Hispanic - LatAm professionals and founded My Auténtico Self™, a space dedicated to growth & self-awareness.
By 2024, my focus deepened to Hispanic - LatAm men, helping them clarify purpose and personal compass.
About 6 months ago, I shifted toward HR Teams, hoping to help companies better develop their Hispanic and LatAm leaders.
But something didn’t feel right.
Those posts (now only on my website) sounded professional… yet didn’t feel alive.
They felt like work, not vocación.
So I chose to return to what had always moved me most:
sharing experiences & positive messaging to Hispanic - LatAm hermanas y hermanos:
Bicultural stories of our roots, our quiet dignity, and éxitos.
I resumed writing from alma, not analytics.
And, the words began to breathe again.
Along the 5-year journey, I’ve coached over 100 clients, hosted retreats at our home, with all experiences filled with reflection, laughter, and personal truths.
I’ve held Zoom discussions with clients across countries,
and even traveled internationally to meet clients.
Each encounter reaffirmed what I believe:
when we meet someone where they’re at and ask the right questions, transformation is possible.
And through all of this, I’ve simply lived life:
Retirement from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
The loss of both my parents in a reckless accident that reminds me daily how vulnerable, and what a gift, the experience of life is.
Watched my son chart his own course, choosing flight over college, and now leading a flight school with focus and passion.
Supporting my wife as she walks through her own season of caring for my aging in-laws.
Selling our wonderful home in Chicagoland and moving full-time to Pure Michigan, where motorcycling across the country, coaching, and enjoying life with my wife is a blessing.
La vida misma. Life itself.
All of it has deepened my range of coaching as I embrace life with humility, ganas, y curiosidad.
And, I’ll continue to honor what it means to serve through coaching and our comunidad, here in the U.S., across LATAM, and beyond.
Because every post, every partnership, every retreat,
is an opportunity to remind someone of their dignidad & self advocacy.
Gracias to those who have trusted me in a partnership, to the friendships, and to the future engagements and partnerships yet to be experienced with fellow Hispanic - LatAm hermanos y hermanas.
Gustavo
