Being Present With An Eagle’s Silhouette

Yesterday, I rode my motorcycle out of Southwest Michigan, winding through Three Rivers, Ann Arbor, and even passing through Hell — yes, Hell, Michigan.
Tree-lined roads opened into valleys, red barns stood proud, cornfields nearly ready for harvest stretched across the horizon, and for five unforgettable seconds, an eagle’s silhouette on the road kept pace with me. Pure Michigan at its best.
The ride reminded me that being present is what gives us the strength to keep moving — and yes, sometimes we all have to get through hell, to reach our destination.
These longer rides are about more than scenery. They’re preparation. Next year, I’ll take on the rim of the Himalayas, a journey demanding stamina, endurance, and presence. Each mile here builds toward that horizon.
This morning I woke up in Amherstburg, Ontario, on the Canadian side of the Detroit River.
On my way back, I’ll stop at the Detroit branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to visit former colleagues before heading west into the countryside again.
Through it all, my resolve sharpens:
To serve LATAM and Hispanic professionals finding their footing in U.S. corporate culture.
To help HR leaders unlock the power of cultural nuance.
To keep family, community, and dignity at the center of my work, especially now.
The Himalayas may be ahead, but the real camino is here, every day, in how I show up with propósito.
👉 Personally: How are you staying present while keeping your purpose in motion?
👉 Professionally: How is your organization preparing to honor the cultural strengths of its people?
