Trying Something New

¿Cuándo fue la última vez que hiciste algo por primera vez?
(When was the last time you did something for the first time?)
This evening, I stepped into an improv class. No expectations. Just curiosity.
There were six of us. Before we began, each person shared why they were there:
▪️ One said it helps her stay presente and truly listen.
▪️ Another joked it’s cheaper than terapia.
▪️ Someone else, a self-proclaimed solitaria, said she uses improv to reconnect with people and laugh a little.
▪️ And one guy? He was tired of bonding with bros at the bar—wanted a new way to connect.
I found myself laughing, stretching, playing—doing ten different exercises that reminded me just how good it feels to wake up new parts of yourself.
One of the facilitators even told me I had natural presencia escénica. That was encouraging to hear. But what stood out most was how deeply it aligned with coaching:
🔸 Staying presente
🔸 Listening with corazón
🔸 Building on what’s offered
🔸 Meeting people con autenticidad, in the moment
Trying something new didn’t just help me learn a few new skills—it helped me feel más vivo.
And that, in itself, is worth everything.
If you’ve been putting off trying something nuevo—this is your gentle nudge.
You might surprise yourself.
