“How are you really doing?”

You, the professional navigating work, life, and everything happening in our cities and communities.
The demands are constant. Meetings, deadlines, personal responsibilities, all layered on top of the quiet weight of uncertainty in the world around us.
We move so quickly, we rarely pause to ask, or answer, the question that matters most:
How am I/are you really doing?
And if you’re in HR, you’re often expected to hold space for everyone else, while no one asks you.
Ignore it, and the tension builds.
Or take the risk to open the conversation, with yourself, with your team, with the people you trust.
That single question, asked with presence, creates space.
Stress eases.
Tension softens.
Connection grows.
You realize you’re not alone. The person across from you isn’t alone.
And resilience or the day doesn’t begin with a policy or a strategy, it begins with a moment of human courage.
So today and going forward be courageous enough to ask this necessary question, and be open enough to answer it, as an individual, as a leader, as HR, as a human being.
