El Danzante Conchero

Last Tuesday was the eve before flying back from Queretaro, Mexico.

My cousins and I ate at Maria’s in the historic district. Indeed, all the Oaxacan mole choices were savored that evening.

On the way back to our vehicle I took a picture of one of my favorite statues in the city.

Es del Danzante Conchero, which honors the Chichimeca dancers and spirit.

It is likely that many of us have Chichimecan blood in us, depending on our family and ancestral history.

It’s a beautiful statue that tributes our origins and spirit.

I’m always in awe when I look up at el Danzante Conchero.
