Father’s Day

I see my dad in the old photo, steady on that horse. Present then and still present, although no longer with us.
So proud and grateful. Of what he accomplished and sacrificed coming to the U.S. at the age of 17 and building a life for himself and for us. Life was hard for him on some days but he kept going, year after year.
Then I see myself with my son, standing at the edge of the water when he was a little boy… being present and real to him, even when some days were hard for me.
So proud of what he’s already accomplished in his early 20’s. A flight instructor; managing a flight school, and more.
Fatherhood is a felt experience. It is love, responsibility, trial-and-error, memory, and presence across generations.
Today, I honor my father, my son, and the man I am.
Happy Father’s Day, Hermanos, Primos, Papás, Tíos, Abuelos, those with us and those always with us in our soul.
