
My grandfather picked cotton in the late 40’s in Osceola, Arkansas. He was one of over 5 million Mexican men who came to fill labor shortages in farmlands and railroad routes throughout the country during World War II.
His name is Luis Lira and he is on the far right in the picture.
Brown was and is beautiful. Brown was and is a backbone of this country’s history and future.
During these times, it may be important to remind our children, nieces and nephews, our hermanos and hermanas, and even ourselves of these inherent verdades y hechos.
